On May 12th, Metropolitan College’s English as a Second Language students celebrated their graduation. After two months of hard work to strengthen their English skills, the “Caminos Hacia el Éxito” students accomplished their Level I Certificate. Seven Latin American Countries are represented in this group, including Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Perú and México.
During the graduation ceremony, celebrated at JCSU’s New Science Building, Dr. Laura McLean, Dean of Metropolitan College, Ms. Nicole Sparrow, ESL Instructor, and Ms. Irene Sandoval, ESL Coordinator, addressed the students to congratulate them and encourage them to continue opening the doors of opportunities for growth and development. The staff also thanked them for trusting Metropolitan College at JCSU to be part of their journey.
Through this program, Metropolitan College is contributing to further enhance the University’s mission to provide education opportunities to a diverse group of talented and highly motivated students from various ethnic, socioeconomic and geographic backgrounds.
Family, friends and Metropolitan College’s team members were present to make sure this was a special evening for the students. Congratulations to the graduates and great job!
New “Caminos Hacia el Éxito” courses will open in the summer. The Open House will be in June 2nd at 6:00 pm, in the Metropolitan College Conference Room, building 34, 100 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte NC 28216. Three groups will be available during the summer, with the possibility of expanding the scope through a strategic partnership with Communities in Schools. Currently, these are the groups that will be available: Level I on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm; CIS (Communities in Schools) College Prep group on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm; and Level II on Thursdays from 6 30 to 8 30 pm.
