Mark your calendars for the 2019 Great Colleges for the New Majority Network Summer Institute Conference at JCSU

JCSU’s Metropolitan College of Professional Studies will host the 2019 Great Colleges for the New Majority Network Summer Institute Conference, making it the first time that an HBCU hosts this important forum. The conference will be held from Monday August 5th to Wednesday August 8th. For all sessions’ location and hours, please click here to see the full agenda.

The event is free and open to the community, but participants have to RSVP to David Scobey, Scobey@bttop.org.

The conference will focus on best practices, challenges and opportunities faced by adult-serving colleges and university programs. It will be relevant to all those organizations with a particular commitment to engaged and transformative learning for nontraditional students and a strong record of success in supporting and graduating these students. For JCSU’s Metropolitan College of Professional Studies, this forum will also mark the launch of its ten year anniversary of serving the adult learner population.

The GCNM holds an annual Summer Institute to share best practices, engage common challenges, and build a community of practice that offers adult learners great, engaged education. The Institute is open not only to programs and colleges in the network, but to all educators interested in supporting adult, nontraditional students. There is no fee for attending.

You can learn about GCNM on this link to its mission statement, as well as a video of the keynote discussion from the 2018 Summer Institute, hosted by DePaul University and National Louis University in Chicago.

If you have any questions about the 2019 event please contact Dr. Laura Colson McLean, Dean of Metropolitan College of Professional Studies at lmclean@jcsu.edu or (704) 378 1295.
