Meeting students where they are

On February 11-13, 2016, President Ronald L. Carter, CFO Greg Petzke and University College Dean Antonio Henley flew out to Seattle with Metropolitan College’s very own Earlee Corbin, and three other JCSU students to meet with members of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. JCSU was selected from a community of high-performing colleges and universities committed to ensuring that many more low-income and first generation students and students of color achieve high-quality degrees.
The Gates Foundation team, including Bill Gates, had conversations with leaders and students from JCSU as they investigated the theme Beating the Odds: How innovative HBCUs are using student and cost data to better serve and support low-income, first generation students.
