Real estate workshop was successfully held at JCSU

Charlotte, North Carolina. June 23, 2018 – As part of the series of certificate programs at JCSU’s Metropolitan College of Professional Studies, a group of 16 individuals participated in the workshop of “Introduction to Property Management”. This offering was developed in partnership with IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) and covered key topics for all those interested in pursuing a career in the real estate industry.

Dr. Lucinda Blue, Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Academic Advisor for Metropolitan College of Professional Studies, led this initiative, jointly with representatives from IREM. “Through research, we concluded that the real estate field is growing in Charlotte and surrounding areas. It is a source of great interest among the community, so JCSU decided to get involved to be an asset for change. Through this program, we were able to attract a wide variety of professionals and individuals with different backgrounds, including JCSU’s students, alumni and professors, as well as external individuals from varied fields,” said Dr. Blue.

Dr. Laura McLean, Dean of Metropolitan College of Professional Studies, added that “we are proud to have been able to contribute in such a relevant way with so many members of our community who are seeking authorized training in real estate. It is a pleasure to continue partnering with IREM,” added Dr. McLean.

David Martin, CPM® 2018 President for IREM Western North Carolina also expressed that he was “honored to join Dr. Lucinda Blue and Dr. Laura McLean, and a classroom of inspiring and engaged students, as an instructor for the workshop”.

IREM’s Introduction to Property Management is a four-hour, interactive course that provides an in-depth overview of property management. The course is appropriate for realtors, brokers, existing property staff, career changers, and anyone interested in a career in residential and commercial real estate management.

The class took place at JCSU’s campus and was taught by Mr. Martin, who shared critical information on how property managers fit into the overall real estate industry, the different types of managers and who hires them. The course also covered knowledge and skill sets necessary to succeed in the profession, along with current employment and salary outlook for property managers and those wishing to advance their careers.

At the end of the class, the participants received a certificate and the opportunity to continue having insider’s knowledge and resources related to the most up to date aspects of a career in the real estate arena. The partners plan to repeat the experience and bring the training back to JCSU in the coming months. For more details please contact Dr. Lucinda Blue at lblue@jcsu.edu.
