Recent Metro Graduate Taking The Next Step

On July 1, 2016, Eboni Moran became an inaugural recipient of the 2016 UNCF Achievement Capstone Scholarship. The Metropolitan College 2016 graduate, who returned to JCSU for her Master of Social Work degree, received the $2,500 award for showing commitment to high scholastic achievement and impactful leadership within the JCSU community throughout her undergraduate career.
Moran demonstrated leadership as president of the Association of Non-Traditional Students Higher Education (ANTSHE), organized campus meet-and-greets each term to ensure students were familiar with campus resources, and collaborated with businesses in the community to organize drives for the children of homeless veterans. She was regularly on the Dean’s List during her undergraduate years at JCSU; was inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society; and served as a student liaison for the Bachelor of Social Work program in the National Association of Social Work. Outside of school, she advocated for abused and neglected children through the Guardian Ad Litem organization.
“I am beyond grateful to Metropolitan College for their support and for entrusting me with leadership roles as a nontraditional student,” Moran said. “I was recommended for the award by the administration, and they have been my biggest supporters through my educational and career journey here as a student.”
The UNCF merit scholarship award can be used to retire existing tuition balances or to cover educational costs related to her graduate studies. In addition to the monetary award, Moran received a commemorative coin honoring the legacy of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
